Germany slaughters Argentina 4-0 in the first soccer match I have ever been actively involved in.
I had my Argentina tee on.
I lingered outside several pubs at Cuppage Road.
Lionel Messi missed a free kick.

Trattoria at 313@Somerset looked inviting….
This doesn’t represent the entire crowd; there was a projector screen around the corner; imagine the crowd THERE.
Anyway, I was heading home alone after I established that my ex schoolmate couldn’t meet with me (she was stranded in the East, nuff said). Thank goodness for the empty buses. I left 313@Somerset at around 11pm; took bus 7 which was headed for Clementi but I saw that it stopped along Tanglin Mall so I alighted and switched to 75. I almost took a cab.
In a nutshell, this experience proves why I prefer (and should’ve stuck to) watching Wimbledon!!!!
Top 10 Reasons Why Wimbledon Pwns World Cup
(in no particular order)
1. You don’t need therapy after the level of rivalry felt from JUST 1 MATCH.
2. (Only for World Cup 2010) The sound of vuvuzelas. Ugh.
3. No one crowds every single pub islandwide just for Wimbledon.
4. The green grass courts are calming. (the umpire sits way above the ground and whose decisions are rarely disputed versus a jogging referee)
5. I can actually understand the gameplay. I know all the rules.
6. I really want to be a ball picker for a Serena vs. Venus Wimbledon final. (versus a soccer player committing “handball” that warrants mockery)
7. I can recognise the Wimbledon Champion’s trophies.
8. Lacoste is a popular upmarket brand for Wimbledon (versus all the damn sporty brands for soccer)
9. I used to play tennis years ago. I’ve gone for courses previously but I’m out of practice.
10. You don’t hear Singlish from Wimbledon spectators (versus “kelong” “offside lah knn” “aiya you go Harry’s see match bo jio”)
I can’t wait to see Serena Williams lift up her 13th Grand Slam trophy after the upcoming finals. Serena, plz pwn Vera Zvonareva’s ass. You are the queen of aces…
